Hanten is a short coat born in Edo era（1603年-1868年）. A short jacket "Haori" has changed into "Hanten" due to moving generation. Haori was used by people who were rich, on the other hand Hanten was used for workers. Therefore it is made warmer & flexible than Haori. Eventually it become a coat for festival organizaers in Japan.Also, it is used as a stylish coat for teenagers and even old people these days.
